Learn to Skate programs can be found here. Learn to Skate programs are highly recommended prior to registering for Mitey Mites. This is the level you want to start your child if they know how to skate, but have not played hockey. The North Olmsted Recreation Center is a recreation complex for the young. This year we will include approximately three (3) Game Days! These days the kids will be divided up into equal teams and play cross ice games with on ice instructions from the coaches. We introduce equipment starting in mid November.Īt the end of the February sessions, typically the players will appear ready for “game-action” and advance to participate in our Mite ADM program the following season. These are great starter kits if your child seems to take a liking to the great sport of ice hockey. The NOHC does have equipment to purchase for the season. Your child should either know how to skate, have been on skates a few times or have taken some Learn to Skate lessons prior to registering for Mitey Mites. All members must register with USA Hockey prior to enrolling in Mitey Mites. Registration will open on September 1, 2022. Our first session will be on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 11:45am. This year our Mitey Mite season will run from October 10 until end of February. This program runs on Sunday mornings from October through February. The Mitey Mite program is made-up of players who want to Learn to Play and will focus heavily on skating and development of basic hockey skills. Hockey is a birth year-based sport – every other year, a player born in December 2011 will not be at the same level as a player born in January 2012. The levels of club hockey are Mite ADM (8U - ages 8 and under), Squirt (10U), Peewee (12U), and Bantam NOHC is a private, not-for-profit organization made-up of players from all over Cleveland’s Western suburbs. Unlike most other sports, hockey is a “club” sport, and a player won’t compete for his/her community until high school. The North Olmsted Hockey Club (NOHC) Mitey Mite program is the first stage in a player’s club hockey career.
